Welcome to Fantasy Football Preview 2012. Each week I will evaluate individual players, strategies, and philosophy leading up to your 2012 Fantasy Football League Draft. And no, it is never too soon to talk Fantasy Football - mainly because it is summer time in Phoenix and I would melt if I stepped outside. Standard scoring league formats only.

Andrew Luck: Any guy with the last name “Luck” and fortunate enough to have a “horseshoe” as his team logo has to Nail It, right? Aside from all the Luck on his side, Andrew will get all the reps in Indy as Peyton Manning has moved on to blue and orange pastures in Denver. Luck has also “lucked” out by joining a Colts team that features a former All Pro wide receiver in Reggie Wayne and a TE that Luck has a little rapport with – Coby Fleener. Fleener was his favorite target at Stanford and was on the receiving end of 10 touchdown passes in 2011 for the Cardinal. Add in sometimes injured Austin Collie and usually injured Donnie Avery and you have the potential for things to work out in Indy immediately. Luck completed 67% of his passes at Stanford and he succeeded without consistent wide receiver play. Perhaps I am drinking the Jim Irsay crazy coffee, but I would not be surprised if Andrew Luck passes for 3500 yards and 30 touchdowns this year in Indianapolis. That is not luck.
ADP trend courtesy Fantasy Football Calculator:
|Andrew Luck||QB||IND||138||Andy Dalton||Ryan Fitzpatrick|
|Carson Palmer||Joe Flacco|
(ADP = average draft position according to Fantasy Football Calculator; 2+reflects the two players at the same position drafted ahead of profiled player; 2- indicates the two players at the same position selected on average directly behind the profiled player.)
Andrew Luck throws a 55 yard TD Pass to Coby Fleener (2011)
2012 Outlook: I have an outperform rating considering Luck's ADP of 138. Quality backup QB option.
Until Next Time,
