Hitting for the cycle once in a season is rare, just ask the San Diego Padres.*
Getting a single, double, triple and a home run in the same game twice in eleven days? Remarkable.
Aaron Hill hit for the cycle tonight in Milwaukee for the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was the 2nd time Hill has had a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game in 11 days. Hill hit for the cycle against the Seattle Mariners on June 18, 2012 in a 7-1 victory.
Hill's sixth inning triple put the 2B in the history books as the first player to hit for a cycle in the same season since Babe Herman hit for the cycle for Brooklyn in 1931. Herman's accomplishment came on May 18 and July 24, 1931.
If the cycle is to hitters what "no hitters" are for pitchers, then Hill's feat is perhaps as improbable as Johnny Vander Meer's two consectuive no hitters four days apart for the Cincinnati Reds in 1938.
Hill recorded his 1000 career hit tonight in Milwaukee.

* The San Diego Padres, as a franchise, have never had a player hit for the cycle.
**Hill's triple was off Livan Hernandez, who reportedly was pitching for the Cuban National team in 1931.**
