Don't Mess With the Terrible Towel

Texas pop culture advertising campaign Don't Mess With Texas celebrates 25 years this year. You can vote for the most popular "Don't Mess With Texas" add starting Feb. 8, 2011. The voting will last for two weeks before an announcement of the favorite "Don't Mess With Texas" ad campaign of the last quarter century. Another thing not to mess with is the Terrible Towel. The dominate Super Bowl Steelers and the terrible towel have brought a pseudo curse to those disrespecting the towel in recent years. So, word to Green Bay fan: Don't Mess With the Terrible Towel:
Clay Travis of AOL Fanhouse has had quite the response to his The Terrible Towel is Stupid column from last week. I'm not sure which is more ridiculous, the Steeler fan email responses to Clay, or the verity that Clay Travis demeans the city of Pittsburgh and its fans. You make the call.

Short Shots Football and Blake-tacular Moment

The Pro Bowl returns to Hawaii this year, after a brief relocation to Miami last year. The game will air on Fox, Sunday evening at 7 pm EST. Having attended the 2004 Pro Bowl festivities in Honolulu, I can attest to the fact the week before the game in Hawaii is the highlight. Can you blame these guys that go through 6 months of car crash type hits for not producing a must see TV event? If you answer "yes" to the preceding question, you probably enjoy "real life frogger" on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Meanwhile, the Super Bowl festivities will take front and center beginning next week. Radio row will be setup in Dallas with the likes of Jim Rome, Bickley and MJ, and the Dan Patrick Show. The week will provide a boost to Dallas with approximately 300,000 visitors to the city during the Super Bowl Festivity Week. A portion of those visitors will be strippers according to TMZ. Local clubs are looking for an additional 10,000 strippers for the week, a 30 to 1 visitor to stripper ratio. When does Charlie Sheen arrive? As promised, another Derrick Williams blake-tacular dunk from last nights University of Arizona win over UCLA:

Fitzgerald tweets free fan trip to Pro Bowl

Fitzgerald tweets free fan trip to Pro Bowl Class move by Fitz...

God has a Sense of Humor!

TO HELL WITH THE SUPER BOWL I DO NOT CARE WHO WINS T SHIRT jersey (3x, PINK) So it is the Packers and Steelers for the rights to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Do you think it is a coincidence that the team with the most NFL championships, the Packers (12) and the team with the most Super Bowl championships, the Steelers (6) are playing in the "place of pilgrimage" that Jerry Jones built for Cowboy fans? In my world, there is a God, and God has a sense of humor. Speaking of sense of humor, click on the "To Hell With the Super Bowl" link and purchase a super bowl day must have "*#@ the Super Bowl" jersey. If your favorite team isn't in the big game, I recommend you antagonize a fan of either of the Steelers or Packers. If you are a Steeler fan, do not delay the purchase of your Super Bowl 45 Terrible Towel. If you are a Packer fan, please fill out an application to be my friend. My Blake-tacular moment from the weekend is:

Tweet Repeats during the Bears v Packers.

Some notes from today's NFC championship game, won by the Green Bay Packers 21-14 over the Chicago Bears. 1.) Jay Cutler-was as yellow as Green Bay's pants today. 2.) Caleb Hanie - kudos for playing your a** off. 3.) Mike Martz - what was he thinking on 3rd and 3 with a reverse to the short side of the field. Idiotic. Some fun following the comedians and others on twitter today during the Bears vs. Packers today: From the always funny @NotJayCutler Regarding the Bears first touchdown: NotJayCutler NotJayCutler Bro, I called that play After Julius Peppers blew up Aaron Rodgers: Jim Rome jimromeAsk Aaron Rodgers what his name is right now and he says, "Tuesday." What a shot. Regarding Jay Cutler's early exit from the football game today: NotJayCutler NotJayCutler Dear Brett Favre, please do something... quick. And from Bill Simmons @sportsguy33: If Steve Bartman tweeted: "Are you watching this Cutler thing? I'M OFF THE HOOK!" Has anyone noticed Aaron Rodgers trying to Out-Cutler, Cutler in the 2nd half??? Destiny Dallas Part 2: New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers

What makes this Sunday the real Super Sunday according to Short Shots from the Show? We get 2 great games that decide the teams for Super Bowl 45. The AFC entry will be determined in Pittsburgh as the Steelers and Jets play for the Lamar Hunt trophy. This game promises to be a hard hitting matchup between two of the top three defensive teams in the league. The Jets run through the AFC playoffs have included wins against Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, the top two quarterbacks of the last decade. Can Big Ben be next? Rothlisberger has played through a broken foot, a broken nose, and a broken ego this year. The Steelers will be attempting to return to the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in three years.
The Steelers and Jets both know how to create big plays, like Troy Polamulu's arial act:
The Steelers take the Jets, who will be emotionally spent after two big playoff road wins, 27-10.

Destiny Dallas: Preview Green Bay @ Chicago

Search Amazon.com for flat screen tv 50 inch The real Super Sunday is just a few days away according to Short Shots from the Show. The oldest rivalry in the NFL will determine the team that wins the Halas trophy and will have the opportunity to play for the Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl 45 in Dallas, Texas. The Chicago Bears hold a 92-83-6 edge over the Green Bay Packers, including a win the only time the two historical franchises have met in the post season, 70 years ago. The ensuing treasures of information should get you ready for a great Part 1 of Short Shots favorite day: Devin Hester's first punt return for a touchdown in the NFL, against the Green Bay Packers in 2006:
It would be very favorable for the Bears if the Packers elect to kick it to Devin Hester. (see more Hester highlights)
The Green Bay faithful will be riding the popular national opinion as 3 point favorites on Sunday. However, the Bears have won 3 of the last 4 games played at Soldier Field. The Bears were a very worthy 7-2 after their bye week. One of the two losses after the bye week came in the final week of the season to the Packers in Green Bay 10-3. The week 17 win by the Packers made them eligible for the 2011 NFL playoffs. The Packers have gone on the road to beat the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFC top seed, Atlanta Falcons.
Important note: I am recruiting some Packer fans to be friends with. Please fill out the Packer Fan application and return it to me by Sunday. (click Packer Fan application for attachment)
Bears over Packers 24-20. A look at Part 2 of Super Sunday's AFC match up tomorrow!
